A Cup of Serenity

Be it Black, Oolong, Green or White, all tea comes from the same botanical, Camellia sinensis, which contains caffeine. Decaffeinated tea is not caffeine free; they still contain trace amounts (5-10 milligrams) of caffeine.  Old Wilmington Decaffeinated Teas undergo an all-natural, safe and gentle CO2 process, allowing the tea leaves to conserve their flavor.  The tea leaves are put under heat and pressure and treated with carbon dioxide gas.  The carbon dioxide mixes with the caffeine; the pressure is released and the CO2 escapes, taking the caffeine along with it.  This process uses no harmful chemicals and is naturally safer than alternative methods.  If the intake of caffeine is a concern we have many caffeine free alternatives in our Tisane category such as our Herbal Blends, Fruit Mélanges & Rooibos.
